Other Childhood memories - Part II
After the trauma of the plastic Jesus breaking, I didnt really want to go back to Sunday school. However, in the summer, in a very very small town in the midwest, there really isnt a lot to do during the summer as a kid that involves the indoors, except summer sunday school, which is like regular sunday school, but it lasts all day during the summer. We lived at least 5 miles from anything. We lived way way out in the country. Our neighbors were cows and mostly I played with leaves, sticks and animals as a kid. However, we did have a small country store owned by my mom and dads friends Butch and Janice. They had kids our age and we played together a lot. I dont remember much about summer Sunday School except I had fun, we made crafts and the building was old and smelled funny. Musty and dusty and damp. It was a little white church. Small town. Some might say, quaint. The crafts were fun. I dont remember much about Jesus or the bible, although they did talk about Noahs arc and the rainbow. It was pallatable and nice. I saved a bug from certain death that had crawled in through a crack in the floor. After sunday school me and my friend Ann would steal candy from her moms store. I think she knew we were taking it. That was fun too.
