When I was little, I had a floor-length dotted swiss red gown that I would wear everywhere.
'Everywhere' to me as a small child in the country primarily included the woods....and my grandma's house. I truly felt like a princess every time I would put it on.
I had a throne-shaped tree stump that had been left when lightning hit a tree on our property. I dragged a gallon of paint out to the middle of the woods in my dress and painted my "throne" a deep purple. I felt like a queen holding court in moss and decaying leaves. The Empress of nothing....and yet that was everything to me as a child with a vivid imagination.
I'll try to find the photo and post it here.
I recently bought a red polka-dot shirt, and it really gave me some sensory flashback to being a child, walking down the stairs to our basement in my finest dotted swiss gown.
